FAQs - Kimberly Richard Photography & Retouching

Photography

What can I expect when working with you?

First, contact me to discuss what session you're interested in and to reserve a time for your shoot.  Upon reserving your session, I ask for a $100 deposit to hold your date.  I am a natural light photographer, so during the shoot we'll find a place that's not too bright and not too dark.  Within 48 hours of the shoot, I'll email you a link to a personal gallery so that you can select which pictures you'd like.  Please email me the file name of each photo you want.  I'll re-post the retouched images for you to approve, and I can do some additional touch-ups if you find something I missed.  Once you're satisfied, you'll pay the remaining balance.  I'll make the photos downloadable once your payment has cleared.  Each final photo you choose will be available in both color and black & white.

What day and time should I schedule our session?

My preferred time to schedule sessions are weekends but I can also accommodate weekday evenings starting late Spring to early Fall.  If you'd like to schedule a session outside those times, please contact me for availability.  The best time of the day to shoot is early morning or late evening.

How far in advance should I schedule a session?

It's never too early to get on the calendar. Spring and Fall are particularly popular times of year, so it's always best to schedule as far in advance as possible.

What if I'd like more time, want to use multiple locations or have a crazy idea I'd like to try?

Let's do it! I'm up for anything. Additional time can be purchased for $100/hr.

Will you travel outside of Loudoun County for a session?

Yes, just let me know what you're interested in and we'll work it out. Based on location, I may need to bill travel expenses.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

I understand things happen, so rescheduling is no problem. Whatever your reason, we'll find a new session date that works for both of us at no charge. If you'd like to cancel and prefer not to reschedule, I unfortunately cannot return your deposit.

Do you retouch all the final pictures?

Yes.  Every picture that you download will have received my full attention.  I strive to make each photo visually complete without altering the picture too much.  Somehow, pimples seem to make an appearance on the day of a photoshoot!

What should we wear?

Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable!  If you're not sure, we can look at a few options and I'll help you pick. Bright colors and layers are fun. If possible, I would avoid solid white or black, too bold of patterns and items with logos, characters or writing. Wardrobe changes are also doable if you'd like variety.

Can we use props?

I love using props during shoots.  It adds such a personal touch to your pictures so feel free to bring props with you.

What if I'm unhappy with the photos?

It's important to me that you love your pictures. If you are not happy, I will work with you to make it right.

Will the images be in color or black & white?

All final images will be in both color and black & white.

Do you offer prints and albums?

We currently do not offer prints or albums, only high resolution digital image files.

Can I purchase digital files individually?

Yes! For $20 each, you can purchase just the high resolution digital files you want. This includes printing rights if you'd like to use the images for holiday cards or print them yourself.

Can I purchase a CD of all the images from the shoot?

Yes! There are several options available and pricing may vary.  Please contact me for more details.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept checks and PayPal transfers.
